Wisconsin Dentists Taking Part In "Cash For Candy"

Published on November 3, 2009 (2 weeks, 3 days ago)

Call it “Cash for Candy.” Dentists in Wisconsin and elsewhere are paying $1 a pound for the Halloween candy that kids bring into their offices. The candy is then donated to U.S. troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. Chris Kammer of Middleton is among the dentists taking part. He says he’s not trying to end Halloween fun – but he’s just trying to get kids to cut down on cavities by not eating the candy they might not like. Kammer says it’s okay for kids to eat their favorites – but they’ll also be tempted to eat what they might not want, just because it’s there. Kammer’s office received about 500 pounds of candy Monday, and it’s still coming in.
